What causes ticking, check engine light, and the check gauges sensor to come on in a 1999 Dodge Durango 5.2L SUV?
white smoke can be either your car overheating, or smoke from an electrical issue
Maybe that ticking sound is the ignition key switch in the steering wheel column failing to make enough contact to switch on. Also, it's possible your starter is shot. Obviously make sure that your battery is in good shape.
not the perfect air fuel mixture. normal under load and acceleration.
if your truck was out of oil and you ran it it probably threw a rod. it makes a fast ticking sound and it comes from under the valve cover. that is most likely what happened
If it is a 4.0 SOHC then they had many issue with the CAM chain guides. Upper and lower, we had ours replaced under warranty 6 times then the FORD deal said they would no longer warrant it. Almost sound like a diesel when at idol.
Exhaust system as it cools.
An irregular ticking that slows downs over time is probably a hot exhaust component (exhaust manifold heat shield, down pipe, catalytic converter, etc.) contracting as it cools off. This is normal if it stops after a few minutes.
