Nothing causes it. It is just simply there, and many people think it is a personality disorder. But is actually an offical mental illness with a diagnosis. People with BiPolar have something different about there brain(don't know what it is) which makes them feel and behave the way they do. and in some serious cases you might even be able to see the difference with there brain in a brain scan.
