The heater core usually fails because the engine coolant hasn't been changed as often as it should have. The coolant gets acidic as it gets older. That and vibration makes the soldered joints in the heater core fail. To prevent this from happening it is reccomended that the coolant be changed every 50,000 miles or every 4 years whichever comes first.

Nope.
Under the dash between the console and the heater controls.
Where is the instrument panel relay located on a 1994 ford escort
The computer is under the console where it meets the bottom of the heater controls. Take the console out to access it.
Chances are it is a busted heater core. It your window has a fog on it when you turn on the ac or heater.
On my '93 ford escort 1.9L, it is located under the dash, behind the heater control assembly.
No, it won't.
The motor is about $85 without the squirrel cage. You can transfer that over yourself.
The dash must be completely removed in order to gain access to the heater box. Then the heater hoses are disconnected and the heater box is removed and opened up. That gains access to the heater core for relacement.
