potato blight - phytophtera infestans
The type of potato grown by the Irish was overrun by blight. Since the potato was the main staple food of the average Irishman (or Irishwoman) many in the country died of starvation or they left for America to try and better their fortunes.
There are six main types of microbes. Fungi is a microbe, with the other five being archaea, bacteria, protista, viruses and microbial mergers.
The microbe is virus
The common cold is caused by a VIRUS not a microbe (a microbe is a bacteria).
Irish Potato Famine. The Irish focused only on one type of potato, so when blight hit, all their resources were gone and the people died or immigrated to other countries including America.
It isn't a microbe it is a worm. an invertebrate and parasite.
