Loss of Circulation in FingertipsRaynaud's phenomenon (RP), also known as Red, White and Blue disease- is a condition resulting in a series of discolorations of the fingers and/or the toes after exposure to changes in temperature (cold or hot) or even emotional events ie.. anxious at the dentist or at a job interview. It is due an abnormal spasm of the blood vessels which results in a diminished blood supply to the local tissues. Initially, the digit(s) involved turn white because of the diminished blood supply. The digit(s) then turn blue because of prolonged lack of oxygen. Finally, the blood vessels reopen, causing a local "flushing" phenomenon, which turns the digit(s) red.
  • Vibration white finger of VWF is a form of Reynaud's disease can cause the finger tips to become numb and turn white especially in the cold. The description given earlier describes how the condition manifests itself, but does not address the cause. A cause of this condition is from excessive continuous use of hand held vibrating power tools, which can cause the industrial disease known as vibration white finger. See the related link entitled "miners vwf" to see how vibration white finger can develop as an industrial injury in the UK.
  • Diabetic Neuropathy will cause loss of circulation and numbness, and eventually gangrene, in fingers and toes. It is caused by persistent high average blood sugar (hyperglycemia) and the oxidative damage caused by that to the capillaries and nerves of the extremities. If you're diabetic and experiencing this, you risk losing hands and feet if you don't reduce your blood sugar and H1a readings immediately.

Why do fingers of your hands and legs become numb when you are asleep?

Yes that can Happen. I have Rheumatoid arthritis and this brought about a situation that led me to suffer from a condition known as carpel tunnel syndrome. this is the median nerve being restricted as a result of inflammation in the carpel tunnel (the middle part of the hand leading up to the wrist) this causes numbness and can lead to excruciating pain in all the fingers side from part of the ring finger and the pinkie. If you are finding problems with numb or tingling fingers get it seen to as it will damage both the muscles around those fingers and the median nerve if it is not fixed.
