In addition, if the cap on your gas tank has not been closed properly or has been left open when last filling your tank, may cause a pressure difference, which can also cause the engine light to turn on. From experience, even after properly closing the cap, it may take a while for the light to turn off (my guess is that it takes a while for the internal pressure to adjust).
