Direct sunlight would heat the thermometer higher than the actual air temperature. A reading would be more accurate if taken in the shade, where the temperature reading would not be greatly different.
When temperature increases so the reading shown also increases.
At -40
It will have a 'finger' pointer against a scale to indicate mass.
It is because your thermostat is taking time to warm up. It should eventually rise up to the temp. that you set it as.
Is vehicle actually overheating? Could be a bad temperature sending unit or gauge Check temperature with a thermometer If thermostat does not open vehicle will overheat
Raise or lower the temperature to change the reading on the thermostat.
The pointer that is used when reading the Torah is called a yad
Depends on car, example: it could be 180 - 195. There is the rating on thermostat
how would a temperature reading be different if the thermometer were over unshaded asphalt
195 to 210 what temperature thermostat do you have
The 1999 Cadillac normal coolant temperature gauge reading should be 180 degrees. A 195 degrees thermostat could be used, causing the temperature gauge to read 195.
Could be that the thermostat is stuck open, new thermostat fixed my 2001 Dodge 3500. If your temperature gauge is not reading warm enough, could be the thermostat.
If your coolant level is fine but your engine temperature gauge is reading on the cool side all the time , your thermostat is probably sticking open. ( or you have no thermostat , or the wrong thermostat - one that has too low of a temperature range ) Anybody else have any ideas ?
Depending on the engine, the coolant temperature in a Cadillac could be from 180 to 195 degrees. The thermostat can be changed to give a lower or higher temp reading.
If the thermostat is open, the ohm reading will be O/L.
you need to read what the pointer is on and you can know the reading of what you are measuring. - {courtney tucker}
