There is an overflow hose behind the reservoir:) I have a 1999 Oldsmobile Alero and I have the same darn problem! Coolant spits out it, then all the sudden it runs hot and I have to fill it again. Think it has something to do with protecting the engine? Just wait for your water level light to come on in your dash. There is a sensor under the reservoir. Then fill it up. Ive tried everything aside from catching my alero on fire. I will never buy another one. Nothing but problems hard to diagnose.
