It is an interesting question. The Play was written and composed ( song-writers needed as it was a musical)-By Lerner & Loewe. I believe it came out sometime in the fifties- but was revived in the late seventies- as it was advertised on TV commercials. So it was performed in the twentieth Century. However, the plot line deals with a sort of time warp and with some reservations, it might be considered a Highland ( not Highland Avenue) variant on the Shangri-La or Shamballah theme.
