What challenges would you see in the call center job?

Some challenges are:

Maintaining professionalism in the face of a customer having a very bad day and taking it out on you is a constant challenge, as is not taking your bad day out on them.

Being helpful as possible, but maintaining firm boundaries when the customer wants something you are unable or not allowed to provide.

Taking pride in your work when the results may not be immediately visible.

1. Angry customers/insults/arguing etc. Angry customers are prone to taking their frustration out on the closest thing they have to a cause of their problems. In this case, it's the CSR on the other end of the phone.

2. Lack of authority to resolve issues. Many customer service reps agree with the customer, but due to company policy are not allowed to resolve the issue.

3. Inadequate/missing tools. In many companies, CSRs do not have the tools they need to provide the information the customer needs or to resolve an issue a customer is having.

4. Poor environment/hours. A large number of reps work long (~14 hours) in buildings that in many cases are not air conditioned/heated.

The main challenges in call center job is to satisfy your customer. If your customer gives a very good feedback for your coordination this gives you a best rise, on the other hand your is at stake and that is your challenge.

People. If you work in a call center, you will suffer a lot of abuse. You may even come to hate people as a whole. And chances are you're not going to like your supervisor(s)... just how it goes.

You'll be stuck in a cubicle. You'll grow to hate it. It'll be like your own little prison.

Just throwing it out there, if you want to be miserable, the oilfields generally pay $60 - $70k/year for someone starting off with no experience. If your job is going to suck, it might as well pay decent.
