Im doing this in geography for my coursework and basically the nomadic people are the ones changing the Sahel by doing a process called slash and burn. Slash and burn is when the tribe uses the land and all its resources and then just moves on to a new peice of land. The land before is left baron and dry, this is the process of desertification. hope i could help lol :) Hannah,14

There is no Sahel Desert. The Sahel is a grassland, not a desert. So, the answer to your question is that nobody lives in the Sahel Desert but people do live in the Sahel grassland.
The Sahel is a grassland. Desertification turns food grazing and farmland into unusable desert. Since the Sahel is used for both farming and grazing, it would hurt the economy of the Sahel people.
The Empire of Ghana grew powerful on its use of goldwhile trading in the Sahel with the Berbers and other nomadic tribes.
