Basic cable is more exciting today than it has ever been before, and it’s no longer the long, lost brother of satellite television. The technology has improved slowly, but it has improved, and basic cable television customers have plenty to look forward to during their service. Here are a few ways that basic cable companies have caught up with the competition. Basic Cable: Not so basic anymore - More channels than ever before. Cable tv isn’t a channel lineup laughing stock anymore. There are hundreds of channels to choose from. Even “basic” lineups are impressive when compared to their ancestors. - Bundled deals. Companies often combine cable tv, cable internet, and phone services to give customers one very low price for all three services. That makes basic cable seem like a very attractive deal to consumers. It trims down three bills to one and reduces the bill clutter for the month. - People have noticed that satellite dishes clutter the outward appearance of homes. It’s not a huge violation of space, but there are still holes drilled into the side of the home and a slight piece of the skyline that goes missing with every satellite dish installed. - Cable is getting in on the HD experience. High definition television is a big deal to almost everyone and their ability to offer HD makes them a player again. These three factors are making it easy for some people to return to basic cable service and learn to love it all over again for the first time. Sentimental value might even count for something, since many older people began their television experience with basic service. A lineup of two hundred channels is a dream come true to those who began watching 13 basic channels. Basic cable just makes sense. There are no contracts and the service is usually local. It doesn’t require major installation of anything that concerns the ordinary television viewer. As time goes by and cable continues to catch up in the HD ream, it will become a serious threat to satellite TV. That’s good news for cable companies.

First of all, shame on you Rogers Cable TV the biggest cable company in the country. The only channel that you can watch live soccer game is 429 channel that is Setanta TV but you have to pay 17CAD/month. Last year by example we had spanish, italian and french soccer games included in a regular cable tv package. This year nothing, none. Again shame on you Rogers. An option for Rogers is to buy rights for BEIN tv Sport channel but for sure they don't care about customers and fans and they won't. I think we have to wait for next year to see if score channel or Gol Tv will buy rights for live transmmision. Asta la vista .... maybe next year.
