It enormous mass, and small size, will cause a tremendously strong gravitational field. This will distort space and time in such a way that nothing (including light) can get out.

∙ 8y agoTheir strong gravitational field. According to the General Theory of Relativity, close to the black hole - within the so-called "event horizon" - space and time are distorted in such a way, due to the strong gravity, that a ray of light can ONLY move further in.
