They do various things to help the homeless. They try to provide shelter for them, in special hostels. They try to provide places where they can go and get a hot meal, often called soup kitchens. At Christmas a lot of homeless charities will organise a full meal and party for homeless people in their area. Some charities will go directly to people on the streets and give them blankets and food and other necessities, and just talk to them and get to know them.
