Gatorade (and most all sports drinks) are filled with electrolytes. This is a special term for salts. More than your typical NaCl table salt, it also Mg, Ca, and K among its metals and a Halogen (like Cl or I) that dissociate easily in water. A salt is really just a metal from the first or second period bonded to a nonmetal from the 17 period. Of course, Gatorade also has sugar to make it taste better, which is a covalent organic compound.
