President Lyndon Johnson appointed Chief Justice Earl Warren to head "The President's Commission on the Assassination of President Kennedy" (more commonly known as the "Warren Commission") on November 29, 1963.On September 24, 1964, the Commission published an 888-page report concluding Lee Harvey Oswald had acted alone in the assassination. The report has been the subject of controversy and criticism since most of it was released to the general public in 1992. The remaining material is scheduled to be unsealed in 2017.
