Yes, there are several medications in the class that Actos belong to. Additionally, it is typically a second-line treatment for Type II diabetes, after Metformin. And there are other medications that improve how the body handles sugar and insulin altogether.

In most states, people with type 1 diabetes aren't allowed to hold a Class A commercial driver's license or operate safety-sensitive equipment if their condition requires them to take insulin. Insulin can sometimes crash a person's blood-sugar count, causing them to feel woozy or disoriented, or even to pass out unexpectedly. Since trucks are involved in a disproportionate number of fatal traffic collisions (about 12% of all highway accidents), the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations prohibit diabetics who have to take insulin from holding a commercial driver's license.

Hard to say what it is without knowing more. Blacking out can be caused by a few things such as low blood pressure, also, diabetes can cause someone to black out if their blood sugars get off balanced. Even a heart condition could result in a black out. If you were in class, that suggests you are young, so it probably isn't a heart condition. You may want to get checked out for Diabetes. A blood test can verify this.
