not too much of a car buff, but I do know that the power steering pump is on the left side of the engine, right next to or under the pully system for the fan belt. Power Steering fluid is clear. It could be your power steering pump, or a bad seal on a hose causing it to leak.

both power steering fluid or ATF, (automatic transmission fluid) will work, for they are both hydraulic fluids. ATF is just dyed red to detect leaks in the transmission and P.S. fluid is clear. Check owners manual.
it starts out almost clear and turns yellow/brown as it ages Mostly RED. some new brake fluid is now clear. the key is to put some of the fluid on your fingers and smell it if you suspect a brake leak. ***check the master cylinder, which is what holds the brake fluid under the hood, is it low? theres your answer. brake fluid smells almost like a mild burnt syrup for lack of a better term.
