It's only worth face value.
If the coin you are referring to is gold coloured and has edge lettering, it is a presidential dollar, is made out of brass and worth no more than the $1 face value.
The only US coin that has the dual-dates of 1797-1801 on the obverse is a 2007 John Adams Presidential dollar, the date and mintmark is on the edge of the coin. If you got the coin from a bank or change, it's face value. Only a proof or mint state coin will have a premium.
The letters JS are on all Roosevelt dimes, John Sinnock was the designer of the coin and they are his initials. The "D is a Mintmark and denotes the mint (Denver) where the coin was made. The coin contains no silver and is still in circulation and is only face value.
Please check the denomination of the coin. A 1971 One Dollar coin is an EISENHOWER dollar not a JFK dollar. Kennedy is only on Half Dollars. No matter what coin it actually is, both are just face value.
