I am a scientist & scientifically speaking, bumble bees are black and yellow because they produce a special hormone which makes them this color. When they are really yellow that means they are mad and about to attack.

Bees are not attracted particularly to any specific colours, but they do seem to prefer brighter colours.

We have to be a little careful using our own vision as a measure because bees' colour vision is different from ours. They are not so sensitive to the deeper reds as we are, and they can see well into the ultra-violet part of the spectrum which is invisible to us. There are patterns on petals that bees find attractive that can only be seen in ultra-violet light.

A Bumble Bee is Really yellow and black.

Usually they are the typical 'bee colours' of yellow and black stripes. I have, however, seen a white and black striped one, once only, and that was most likely the result of a rare mutation.
