For the 1999 Ford expedition it is recommended that you use the Ford Premium engine coolant which is green in color. You should not use the Ford extended life engine coolant which is orange in color.
According to the Owner Guide , it originally came with a 50 / 50 mixture of Ford Premium engine coolant ( green color ) and distilled water The Owner Guide shows not to use Ford Extended Life coolant ( orange in color ) and DO NOT use Dexcool
The 1998 Ford Ranger Owner Guide shows Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant ( Dexcool )

Check the engine coolant reservoir . It is a 50 / 50 mix of coolant and distilled water from the factory
The Owner Guide shows Ford Extended Life Engine Coolant ( orange )
cause the orange is for Chevrolets newer models
If it's a Diesel then Heavy Duty Extended Life Coolant. Otherwise, either HD ELC or regular coolant will work. I recommend HD ELC even for gas.
Its a special blend and its yellow dont put any other color
