I think it makes a taupe colour.....kinda light brownish. Try it yourself!
Your room sounds beautiful! My suggestion would be that you choose a beige/taupe with a hint of purple/lavender/violet. Pick a beige/taupe that goes well with your knotty pine. Try to match the warmth of the wood in the paint color.Another option would be to go with a warm sage gray/green scheme if this is more of a an indoor/outdoor room. This color would really complement the plants.I'm not sure what you mean by borders. If they are wallpaper borders, consider pulling a color from them to tie the room together.
I think using the new neutrals such as taupe, grey, mid-tones in tans, toned down mustard shades...all of these provide a sophisticated and rich backdrop for the furnishings. Save the bold or bright colors for accents.
Two options come to mind... 1) a neutral colour, in a textured material (raw silk in ivory or white / nubbily cotton in taupe) will give interest, privacy, and block some or all of the light without competing (or clashing) with the existing colours... or 2) a smooth woven fabric (stripes, geometric or random pattern) picking up both of the existing colours and possibly adding neutral or complimentary colours - from which to draw for additional furnishings and accessories.
Pink is the color red and the color white mixed together. Pink is the color of bubble gum. It is the color of your intestines and the color of the rainbow mixed together. Ex: the color of your tongue and the color of the shirt i am wearing right now!

That is the correct spelling of the color "taupe" (a brownish gray).
Light taupe coordinates with dark taupe and visa vera. With careful layering, you can create an entire wardrobe of taupe alone.
The color of his hair is taupe, it's a bit odd for his age.
Taupe
If you Google the color taupe and view the results you'll notice that there are many colors that go by that name. There is no "official" taupe, so if anyone labels a color they've mixed with that name, it's taupe. Taupe is essentially a light gray (black and white) with just a hint of anything from orange to red to purple in it. I've even seen it with a hint of green.
