Purple, or violet, is made from primary red and blue. By adding small amounts of yellow to the mixture, the purple will be less intense. More yellow will make a variation of brown. Mixing the violet made from equal parts of blue and red with the yellow at a 3:1 ratio will give you a gray.
Since everyone's palette varies, you will have to experiment with the reds and blues you have and then add varying amounts of yellow to get the color you want.
