Typically you wouldn't want your throw pillows to be the exact same color as your sofa, however, this is often done. If you can get a slightly lighter or or darker color than you sofa that will often be a visually pleasing combination. Contrasting colors may not look the best. In common design sense, throw pillows shouldn't be the same color as the sofa. They are for contrast.
