Most infants begin to distinguish between different shades of white, black, and gray within the first few weeks of life. As they grow older, they typically learn to differentiate between red and green, followed by blue and yellow. There is no first color to learn. I would say let your kids learn through learning in real life.
The rainbow has ALL of the colors in it. Little kids in the First Grade learn seven colors, and many people never learn any more than that. But any color that the human eye can detect is in the rainbow, whether not it even has a name.
