The USS Nautilus (SSN-571) was built by long time submarine builder General Dynamics' Electric Boat Division in Groton, CT. Keel was laid in 1952, and she was launched 2 years later.
The Nautilus is still in service as a museum ship at the Navy Submarine School in Groton. I went to Submarine School in February '80 - I do NOT recommend CT in the winter.
