Open the Layers window.
Certain image processors will allow you to create layers. If you have one of these Paint.Net is a freeware that does) then: # Copy your image to six layers # Erase different 5/6ths from each layer # Save each layer as a unique image # Crop the images so they are the size you want If you can not have layers in the image processor you are working with then make six copies of your original image and proceed as above but with image copies instead of layers.
Layers for clipping must be one above another where layer above will be clipped into layer below. Hold down Alt key on keyboard and navigate pointer with mouse button to line between two layers until cursor transform to arrow with two circles, then click and layers are clipped. See related link.
To Flatten your Layers in Photoshop simply go Layer>Flatten. I recommend saving your image as a psd before you flatten so that you can refer back to your layers. Then flatten and save as a jpg.
You can not separate flattened layers (they have becomed one layer), only from history to go to step when you have flattened image.
To store image parts.
You can do that from Edit > Content Aware Scale or from Image > Image Size.
Component
All Layers will be flattened in other words all layers becomes one composite layer. You wont lose any image detail but you will lose ability to work with layers independently.
