A metal bonded to another metal is nothing more than a metallic bond. The resulting compound is still a metal, otherwise an iron ingot wouldn't be iron anymore!

What is a covalent compound-?

Covalent compound is the bonding between non-metals that have two electrons shared between two atoms.

Is carbon disulfide an ionic compound?

Covalent. You have a compound of two non metals, which means they bond covalently. Ionic bonds occur between a metal and a non metal. Another clue is that only covalently bonded compounds use prefixes in the names; ionic compounds do not.

Are covalent bonds made up of metals and nonmetals?

Two elements will form ionic compound if the difference in electronegativity between the two elements is above 1.7 and two elements will form covalent compound if the difference in electronegativity between the two elements is below 1.7 Metals and non-metals will form generally ionic compounds.

What causes a precipitation reaction to occur between two soluble compound?

I am from Infia

When two elements are mixed to form a compound how does this occur?

Electrons are shared or swapped between atoms.

What is the major difference between ionic and covalent bonds?

The major difference between the two is: - Ionic bonds occur between one metal and one non-metal (such as sodium and oxygen) - Covalent bonds occur between two non-metals.

Covalent bonds are formed between what types of elements or atoms?

Covalent bonds tend to occur between two Non- Metals.

Does carbon tetra hydride contain non polar bonds?

yes. This is a compound between two non metals, with similar electronegativities. The compound is usually called methane.

What elements combine to form a covalent compound?

If the electronegativity difference between two elements is less than 1.7, then covalent bond is formed between the two atoms. Also, non metals combine with other non metals to form covalent compounds.

How do you know if an element is an ion?

When metals combine with non-metals you normally get an ionic compound. So, sodium chloride is ionic. When non-metals combine with other non-metals you get a covalent type of compound, so water is covalent. If you really want to distinguish between the two you need to become familiar with the Periodic Table of Elements.

Is A compound between P and Cl involves covalent bonding?

Being two non metals, phosphorous and chlorine form covalent bonds.

Compound made of 2 different metals?

A compound is composed of two or more different elements.
