RJ 45
There are four wire pairs. White/Blue - Blue, White/Orange - Orange, White/Green - Green, and White/Brown - Brown. Only two pairs are used in Cat5 networks.
Twisted pair cabling has 4 pairs of wires (8 wires in total), but 10BASE-T and 100BASE-TX requires only 2 of those pairs (4 wires in total).Exams will often try to trick you by asking questions like 10baseT uses how many pairs so you think you're being asked how many pairs does it have? When really you're just being asked how many pairs does it use.
One type of electrical joint is known as a western splice. Another type of mechanical joint is known as a butt splice where a device is installed in series with the wires to be connected and then crimped with a crimping tool. Another type for combining wires together uses a device known as a wire nut.
FireWire 400 uses 6 wires in 3 twisted pairs with one outer shieldFireWire 800 adds individual shields to each twisted pair for better isolation and impedance control
RJ-45 connector
It uses rhyming pairs of lines.
it is RJ-45
The UTP cable it uses an RJ-45 connector. For coaxial cable, it will be either an F connector or a BNC connector.
You need to use copper twisted-pairs called twinmax, it uses a special 9-pin connector known as HSSDC.
If the cable on your mouse can be unplugged and uses a Mini Din6 connector, you could use it.
EIDE
The Nest thermostat uses a micro USB power connector.
