The atomic bombs ( most famous of which hitting Hiroshima) forced Japan to surrender and there for end the war. If it were not for the bombs Japan would most likely never surrendered. An example of how much they would go through is that they told their grade school children that their goal is to kill at least 10 Americans with spears.
