depends on the make, model, and engine. Some vehicles use an ignition control module to fire the coils. Others rely on the PCM. Just keep in mind that whichever system it is, they only control the GROUND side of the circuit. Power is ON to the coils when the key is in RUN. Then the module or the PCM switches the ground on and off to fire the coil.
