The heart is not controlled by anything, it is a myogenic muscle which means if you were to remove the heart from the body it would continue to beat.

However, the adrenal medulla is the part of the brain responsible for the release of adrenaline,when adrenaline is released, the SAN is stimulated to work faster and increases your heart rate, this happens when playing sports,or during a fight or flight response.
