What could be causing a high pitched whining noise to come from the back end under your 2000 Tahoe after it warms up The sound is constant if the truck is running?

Most likely it's the fuel pump. My '02 Tahoe makes the same noise and it gets worse during the summer heat. It's located inside the gas tank so replacing it can be tricky and/or expensive. Unless/until the pump breaks, you just have to put up with it.

The whining could be related to the alternator. Does the car have any electrical problems such as the battery drains and dies while car running, are your belt(s) tight? in good condition? It might be a belt tensioner or idler pulley that is causing the whining.
