What could be causing your 2007 Subaru Forester to not refill the transmission fluid into the pan I changed the fluid and the new will not go down into the pan?

You may have filled the wrong thing with the wrong fluid. The front differential dipstick is on the passenger side of the engine and very easy to see. The ATF dipstick is on the driver's side of the engine and difficult to see, especially on the turbo models. (behind the intercooler).
If you did this, drain any ATF you may have added to the front differential and fill with 75w90 gear oil.
