Could be condensation coming from the exhaust.
It could be as simple as a few bolts need to be tightened, or it could be a worn/failed seal.
If you mean the serpentine belt by "bands" than I would guess that it's the water pump. I had a bad coolant leak on my 97 SL2 and diagnosed it as being the water pump. It was leaking right from the pump, which is towards the bottom of the engine. Look at the diagram for the serpentine belt under the hood and see if that could be where it's leaking from. Hope that helps.
It could be that you have a leaking heater core, which resides inside your car. Another give-away for a leaking core would be a sweet smell inside the car and/or a sticky residue on the inside of your windshield.
It could possibly be the heater core Check your heatting and a/c
most likely the power steering
leaking what??
Heater Core is going out and needs to be replaced.
this would be brake fluid have it checked before the brakes fail and you wreck
Heater core, windshield, or a clogged cowl drain line. If the liquid tastes sweet it is coolant and the heater core is leaking. Heater core must be replaced. If not, it is one of the other 2 problems.
Your engine may have a leaking hose connection or a leaking gasket at the water outlet. It could also be a leaking hose.
you need to find where the leak is coming from, but be very careful, if the gas is leaking onto or near any hot engine components such as the exhaust manifold, it could easily start a fire
