Well, if the noise is coming from within the engine, it could be a piston rod. If it has ever run low on oil for an extended or cumulative amount of time - or sludge has built up in an oil port (low oil pressure), the crankshaft journal bearings will wear thin. My wife let this happen and the piston rod wound up cracking the block. Replacing a block is very expensive and time consuming. Also, there are no manuals available for Paseo's any more. However, there are forums available for Toyotas and the folks are generally very helpful. You can also look for information on a 5EFE engine.
It could be something else, but that is where I would start looking immediately.
Check the temp sensor. The control is not turning on the fan when engine temp requires it, so the most common cause is the sensor.
Damaged gears in the transfer case.
I'm pretty sure the fuseable link is underneath the battery...
bottom engine mount nut snaped
There are several things that can cause a clanging noise on your 2004 Toyota. A loose exhaust pipe is the most common cause.
Radiator fan could be bad, fan relay bad, fuse blown. Also if your ECT (engine coolant temperature) sensor is bad the ECM (computer) won't know to tell the fan to turn on.
A common cause for an ABS indicator light not coming on in a 2004 Toyota Highlander even when the ignition is started is electrical issues.
The most common cause is the CV joints. They have a finite life and cannot be lubricated. Full replacement is the only solution. By the way, DO BOTH SIDES!
Bad water pump, stuck thermostat, clogged radiator, blown head gasket, trapped air in cooling system, defective cooling fan, defective thermal relay, or a combination of these.
no one cares about it, just forget it iof it's about homework
A hard clanking sound could be the universal joint(s) connecting the drive line. There are basically 2 of these universal joints and most have to be replaced at the same time and also need to be pressed in on most vehicles. If the u-joints are okay, then it may be the transmission.
There can be several things that will cause your 1994 Jeep grand Cherokee to make a loud clanking noise when you drive it. The most common cause is a bad u-joint.
