Several things could be making the Lumina growl. Check the belts and pulleys on the front of the engine. Check the engine mounts as well. Either of these areas can cause the problem of the growling noise.
My 1990 Lumina 3.1 had the same problem and it was caused by the crank sensor.
Sometimes they are behind the airfilter compartment.
i have the same problem with my 92 Lumina and i cant figure it out i have tried every thing
Have vehicle scanned to determine the problem
I belive it is somewhere on the transmission, *I just replaced the speed sensor on my 93 Chevy Lumina Euro so look on the passenger side right below the alternator on the transmission. One bolt to unfasten, then lift out. Solved our problem of erratic movement of speedometer needle and changes in speed of cruise control, also slowness in accelerating after stopping.
I had this problem when it rained. It would help if you gave more info. Check ur ignition cables/spark plugs. keep 'em clean and dry of moisture.
My 1993 Chevy lumina did the same thing i ended up having to get a new battery it turns out my factory radio was the problem : - )
The light is on because there is a problem with the ABS system. Until the problem is fixed the light will remain on.
