Suspension is pretty simple; there are the shocks, which when worn out could allow the bump to cause the shock to compress too easily and create a thud. That's the easiest fix. Have someone watch you from aside go over speed bump in a parking lot, see if tire is hitting top of wheel well; could also be too large of tire size if you've added monster mudders.
Next check spring bushings which keep the springs from hitting metal when hitting bumps, usually rubber and could be disintegrating.
Next hopefully you have a mechanic friend who will diagnose your problem which could be a bad axle or rear end. Hope this helps!
