The answer to this questions is really just about anything. Ultimately what makes a car run is a fuel system, ignition system (spark plugs), and air supply. Long story short, there is a reason for why the factory would put a part in there. The only exceptions are the emission stuff. That actually ruins your car's performance, longevity, fuel consumption, and (on the 300ZX) the thrill of driving it fast. For more info or details e-mail me at Dream300ZX@gmail.com
my 1990 300zx is idling rough what could cause this?
There are several things that can cause an engine to turn over but not start. The most common cause is a lack of fuel.
no power to starter on Nissan 300zx twin turbo
mass airflow sensor of head tip sensor could also be catalytic converter
If a tune up was done recently then the spark plugs and the wires are hooked up wrong. If not then the engine could be out of time, or be extremely low on fluids. Good luck.

Yes, just about any sensor on the engine could cause a no start.Yes, just about any sensor on the engine could cause a no start.
It could be a bad clutch.
On older 300ZX's equipped with a timing belt it will cause internal engine damage if the belt breaks as they are interference engines.
the teeth on the starter could be worn out or the teeth on the flywheel could be worn out ... hopefully for you its just the starter if its the flywheel you will have to pull the tranny ...
There are several things that can cause your 1986 Nissan 300 automatic transmission to send you a start leaking fluid the most common cause is a blown seal in the front of the transmission. There is a seal in the rear of the transmission. The transmission pan gasket can be leaking.
No battery.
