That would depend largely on where the person was, who the person was and who the accuser was. There are some areas of the world where an accusation of witchcraft is a very serious matter and could easily result in the death of the person, regardless of the reliability of the accuser and any evidence. In other places there would have to be some evidence of the person practicing magic, but the accused would be punished or even killed. In yet other places, the accuser would be laughed at and not taken seriously at all, or at least no one would much care whether or not the person was a witch.

It really all depends on the local culture.

In the case of the Salem Witchcraft trials, their land and property. In fact, in retrospect, we see that most of the so-called witch hunts were thinly disguised attempts to rob people.

All I can tell you is what I did when my parents confronted me about my spirituality.

I call and consider myself a witch. I have been a practitioner of the Craft for more than fifty years.

Ten years or so ago my parents came to me with "concerns".

They were aging and looking their own mortality in the eye. That sort of thing makes you think about your own and the spirituality of those you love.

The conversation was very intense, but came down to this:

Me: Do you believe me to be a bad or evil person?

Dad: No absolutely not.

Me: Have you ever known me to be unkind, cruel, or dishonest?

Mom: No, from all I have seen you are a good person.

Me: Do you think I am going to hell in spite of being a good person?

Dad: I'm not sure, they say you are a witch and that means you will go to hell

Me: I don't know who this "they" you speak of is, but the only true thing in that sentence is that I am a witch. That is my spiritual path, and following it has made me the person I am today.

Mom: I don't think God would send a person who was good to hell just because they called him by a different name.

Me: Neither do I, and besides, my path doesn't have a hell. What do you think Dad?

Dad: I've never been a big follower of what others say. I know in my heart and can see with my eyes you are a good person, one I'm proud to call daughter. That's enough for me.

Both my parents are reconciled to my spiritual choice and have at various times asked me about what I believe and how I practice. Neither of them is about to convert, but then nor are the about to try to convert me.

Admittedly this was not like being accused and interrogated by the Spanish inquisition, but it was my modern day response.

In New England, no one that confessed was put to death. Those who denied the accusations and fought to clear their names were thrown in jail for more time and then the judges would hang them.
