How do you change the alternator on a Ford Fiesta?
Hello, Jamison here, This is not A difficult job, It should take YOU about 2 hours, Note how the belt is routed, It should have A sticker that showes A picture,,, Disconnect the battery, Remove the belt, This is done by locating the tensioner and pulling back from the belt (it is spring loaded)using A ratchet or A wrench, It may have A square hole in the moveable part of the housing if so A ratchet will fit in the hole,,,, now just unbolt the alternator and disconnect the wires, There will be A plug in wire and A bolt on wire, BE CAREFUL NOT TO DAMAGE THE WIRE ENDS, Also DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NEW unit while putting on the bolted wire.,, Good luck, Jamison. If you have difficulty finding the tensioner, Just pull HARD on the belt were it has A strait spot, act like you are trying to check the tension of the belt, BUT PULL hard, The tensioner will let out slack, Just look for the part that moved,, Also this will help you identify the dirrection that you need to move the tensioner to remove the belt.........
