not sure of your question, but, the relay is mounted under or behind the engine computer or ecm.. you have to remove the ecm to find the relay. It is on the inside of the firewall in the middle behind the radio. Good luck

Why is the ABS warning light always on for my Mazda 323 1997?

This warning light comes on when sensors detect problems within the ABS braking system. You need to have it repaired ... could also be a loose wire dangling somewhere, too. Check it out soon ... if you have to make an emergency stop, your braking system may not respond in the manner you expect it to.

What causes spray paint to crack and bubble?

Contaminate on the surfaces you are spraying. It could be left over wax or left over cleaning agent.

Stop. Let dry. Light sand. wipe with mineral spirits or paint thinner (same thing) let dry and then repaint. That should keep it from crackling again.

Air. That's why it's important to sand down the fixture first, then wipe the sand residue off the project. A smooth, clean surface takes the paint better and seals better too.

Where is the thermostat in a 1988 Mazda 323?

There is indeed a thermostat, that mechanically opens and closes to regulate water flow from the engine to the radiator. The thermostat housing is located on the upper part of the engine (front right corner), where there is a black hose leading to the radiator. Take that housing apart, inside you will find the thermostat. It's a round brass thing, about 4cm in diameter.

What does the HOLD button on the side of the shifter do?

It allows the transmission to be HELD in one gear, longer than normal. Once you release the HOLD button the trans will shift normally. A HOLD button, keeps the transmission either in a gear or in a range of gears, according to a moderately complicated algorithm which "lets you shift for yourself."

Your car is high fuel consume what is wrong?

Start with a full tune-up, including an oxygen sensor and air filter. My '93 323 also gets bad gas milege. I averaged only 25 mpg on a trip to California. Maybe it's part of being an old car now, but I will also check the fuel filter. I meant fuel tune up and oxigen sensor and all that stuff.

How do you remove a brake drum?

On my '88 323, you have to remove and discard the axle spindle nut. Then you can use a brass hammer to help break the drum loose. It should pull right off once you break the dirt and/or rust "seal". Make sure you get a new spindle nut first ($3-5 at a discount parts store), you have to "spike" the nut after it's snugged up to hold it in place, and you can NOT safely reuse the old one.

What is the problem if there is no power to the ceiling light of a car?

Answer

Bad bulb or fuse.

Answer

Also, the door switch on my 88 323 sometimes sticks. If I push in -snap out a few times it corrects this. Must be a dirty contact on switch.

Answer

if the door switch sticks, try spraying a little bit of WD-40. Clean or wipe the excesive dirt first.

also check your "room" fuse, it controls your radio and ceiling light.

Where is the flasher unit on a '87 Mazda Familia?

The flasher unit is behind the dashboard fuse box , need a torch to locate it . the flasher unit is a pale green colour rectangle box 65mm x 30mm x 30mm and is pluged into a small board with other plugs . What is spark plug gap on 1988 Mazda 323 no turbo?

If it's electronic ignition the plug gap should be 1.1mm you buy spark plugs already sized (NGK BP5ES-11) It depends on what type of spark plugs you are using. For conventional plugs the gap of 1.0 - 1.1 mm (0.039 to 43") is correct. If you are running Platinum plugs, I like to gap at 0.005" extra (0.44 - 0.048"). I get good performance with NGK 7082 Platinum. Cheers Malcolm

Is there an alternator light that comes on when the alternator is going bad in a 1988 Mazda 323?

I have a 1989 Mazda 323 and there was no light that came on when my alternator died a while back. The "Check Engine" light didn't come on either, though that may have been due to the utter lack of power. I would think that the 1989 would be an improvement on the '88 and would have more features, but I'm not 100% sure. My323 let me know the alternator was shot by slowing the windshield wipers to a crawl. There was a similar question asked about lights going dim and car stalling; same problem, the alterantor died. There is no light that comes on to tell you this (only when the engine is stopped do you get the "CHARGE" light." There are only minor differences between 1988 and 1989 cars and it happened on my 1989 323. The easiest thing to do is buy an accessory voltmeter (UAP, Schucks, Pep Boys etc) for about $25.00 and mount it on the A pillar with one of those plastic "pods". Wire the negative terminal to ground; the light to your instrument light circuit (tap off the wire (I think it's red with black stripe) off the cigarette lighter); and positive to a switched power wire (like you would have to the stereo feed). The voltmeter should read between 13.5 and 14.5 volts if the alterantor is healthy. Cheers Malcolm

Where is the thermostat for the radiator fan on Mazda 323 1985 - 1989?

I believe you are refering to the thermal switch for the electric fan. The switch is located on the bottom tank of the radiator on the driver's side (left-hand drive), just above the drain plug. This switch is a thread-in type with two round prongs where the wires connect. To remove/replace, drain the radiator first, then using a 21 mm socket or wrench, unthreadd the switch from the radiator. There is a second switch which threads into the thermostat housing loacted on the back on the engine head. This switch is part of the emmission control system and also controls the electric fan. Before you remove or replace the radiator switch, disconnect the wire from the thermostat housing switch first, to test the rad switch and electric fan. (I had to do this job just last weekend). Cheers Malcolm

Why can't you get your drum to go back on after replacing rear shoes on your 98 Mazda 626?

The replacement shoes should be significantly larger than the warn units removed. The automatic adjuster has turned the star wheel adjuster open to compensate for that wear. Turn the star wheel closed and install between the shoes and the drum should go on. You will also need to adjust the brakes using a brake spoon through the hole on the rear of the backing plate after the drum is replaced.

Is the head bad if there is no compression or is it the oil pump that operates the lifters on a 1988 323?

No compression on all cylinders would indicate a broken cam belt. i think this motor has hydralic lifter, but for them to cause no compression it would be unlikly. when you say no do you mean none at all or low compression? a broken cam belt could be the cause if all cylinders have no compression. if the cylinders are down it could be bad valve seats (the point of contact between the valve and the head). if it is one or two cylinders it could be cracked head or cracked/broken head gasket. the only other possablilities are broken rings or broken piston. you need to know compression reading of all cylinders in a dry and wet situation. to do this 1:take the compesssion of a cylinder 2:then remove compression guage and squirt two good squirts of engine oil in the cylinder through the plug hole. 3:retake comperssion reading of cylinder. if the compression reading increases you have bad rings, if it doesnt the rings are fine. hope that helped and not confused you Geoff
