i think it would vary for each woman, but i had mine taken out last week after having complications with it, and yes i found it extremely painful. After insertion of the copper t initially, i also ended up in hospital with a pelvic infection so maybe that could have been the cause of the pain upon removal. I had the copper t in place for only 3mths and had the infection for 1 week and medicated for 2.
