Winston Churchill made the iron curtain speech at Westminster college in Fulton, Missouri. There is currently a museum dedicated to him and the circumstances surrounding the speech on campus. For the 50th anniversary of the speech there was a black tie dinner attended by several members of his family as well as Margaret Thatcher. I was fortunate enough to sit with her for about ten minutes as we enjoyed two glasses of wine and she lightheartedly compared her own style and public perception to Winston. There is also a restaurant/pub in Fulton named Sir Winston's in honor of that brief moment in history.

The Soviet Bloc was afraid of NATO. Having been invaded by Germany during WW II and having suffered greatly from this invasion, Russia was worried that they would be invaded again. As it turned out, the fear was unnecessary.
A:You would find a description of the curtain written after the time of Jesus by someone who would have been familiar with the curtain. Such a person was the former priest at the temple, Josephus. He describes the curtain and its images and colours in considerable detail (Wars of the Jews, Book 5), but makes no mention of any damage to it, or any repairs. We can rule out any possibility that he was biased against the Christians because the only mention he actually makes of Jesus, in the famous Testamonium Flavinium passage, is favourable even allowing for later Christian alterations. So we are actually left with proof that the curtain was not torn at all.
In Fulton, Missouri, Churchill made a famous speech in which he referred to the world as having been split into two parts. The sphere of the old Western countries and the sphere of the Soviet's. After the WWII, the territory that had been liberated from the Nazis in the eastern part of Europe got under Soviet influence, controlled from Moscow (and building communism). He said: ...an iron curtain has descended across the continent." And a Cold War started.

Hard to say. Many countries make nuclear weapons behind other countries backs. Some countries are not announcing when they complete testing or development for nuclear warheads, so the world may never know.
