No. Texas fought Mexico in 1836 becoming its own republic that year until 1845 (Texans were actually illegal insurgents during that war as they were technically part of Mexico). In '45 Tx became part of the US. In 1846 the US (which now included Tx) fought Mexico in a legally declared war.
Texans wanted to be part of a bigger, more powerful country. Also, Texas was a part of Mexico before becoming an independent country, so people in Texas wanted the protection of the U.S. from Mexico.

Mexico had warned the United States that the annexation of Texas would be considered an act of War by Mexico. The US Annexed and Mexico failed to declare War, but it did reinforce the troop strength on its border and broke diplomatic relations with the United States.
