Zacarias Moussaoui was tried in the US District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia and sentenced to six consecutive life terms without possibility of parole on May 4, 2006.
Moussaoui had previously plead guilty and was initially told he had voluntarily waived the right of appeal under federal sentencing guidelines.
He was later allowed to file an appeal with the US Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, which affirmed the District Court's decision in its entirety on February 9, 2010.
The last item on the docket for Moussaoui's case was the notice of final appeal, filed by the Fourth Circuit under Rule 41(a) of the FRAP (Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure) on March 10, 2010.
