There are no credentials really. It does definitely help to have a business degree and good credit to convince a company to allow you open up a franchise with them, though.

Where would I locate info on a good franchise opportunity?

You can find information on a good franchise opportunity either online or in person. Search a franchise's website to see if they have any information that they can provide you with in starting your own franchise. If they do not have a lot of information, look for contact numbers, or speak to a manager in person at a franchise that you are interested in.

What does the term franchise actually mean?

A franchise refers to a business model which is bought by someone who wants to use this idea rather than an original idea. For example buying a McDonald's franchise would allow you to set up a restaurant in this name and sell it's products as opposed to coming up with an original concept for a restaurant.

Is A Restaurant Franchise Right For You?

The restaurant field is very competitive and the failure rate high. Even with those negatives working against them many individuals and families decide this is the right business for them. Using a restaurant franchise system could be the best way to build a successful restaurant during these times. The benefits of working within a franchise in any industry are many, and within the restaurant industry can make all the difference. With less extra money these days, families are less likely to try a new place and risk not liking the food. As a recognized franchise brand, the food and experience are familiar and comforting and the cost is known. This is a big draw for customers and will help a franchise restaurant start out stronger than an individual mom and pop establishment. Having nationally run and recognized advertising also helps keep your franchise restaurant in the forefront of the market. There has been negative publicity about how difficult franchises can be to work with; however, if the franchisor and the franchisee are not able to work together, no one wins. A franchise has an established, proven system to being successful. Yes, sometimes this is difficult for someone with an entrepreneurial spirit to work with, but the benefits must be accepted in order for it to work to its fullest potential. If someone else has figured out 90% of the wastes and failures of your business, it would be insane to ignore that. Franchises also offer initial training and many offer continuing training, so someone who has never worked in this field can benefit from the experience of others and be set up for success. The major drawback to owning a franchise is the royalty fees that are assessed on your sales. These are assessed whether you are profitable or not. However, you will have more sales from the day your restaurant opens since you are a recognized franchise rather than a brand new, unknown, mom and pop restaurant. So it can be said that by being a franchise restaurant gives you an advantage from the very beginning and makes the royalties fees worth the price. In opening your own restaurant, be ready to work hard and reap the rewards of owning your own business.

How can I turn my company into a franchise?

http://www.franchisetraining.co.uk/mod1/lesson1/introduction_to_franchising_m1_l1_p2.html That would be a good one. Otherwise you should go to any Fast Food Restaurant and ask for the manager. He is probably the one who franchises the Restaurant and he will probably be able to tell you more about how it works.

How do you apply for a Chick-Fil-A franchise?

$5,000 dollars!........ Yes.... that's right only $5,000 dollars is needed to buy into this franchise. Franchisees who buy into this must be dedicated though. Chick-fil-A requires that its restaurant operators be involved in the business. Chick-fil-A takes 15% of sales from the top to cover national marketing, and general upkeep of the brand and then 50% of profits each month, thus the reason the buy-in is so inexpensive. While this may seem like a bad deal, many Chick-fil-A operators make $200K/ year or more. Not such a bad deal at all!

What are the requirements to have a McDonald's franchise?

The requirements to purchase a McDonald's fast food restaurant franchise are that a franchisee will need at least a forty percent down payment on the property, as it will likely be an existing location that is being purchased. There must also be the potential for the franchisee to have a very sound business plan, and that they have had previous experience in the operation of a restaurant.
