100% organic foods are those that have been raised without the use of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers. If they are processed foods, all ingredients must be organic and they are GMO free. Foods labeled 95% organic can contain 5% ingredients that are not organic. 70% organic foods have to contain 70% organic ingredients.

Organic is a method of growing a food which is regulated by the USDA in the United States. To grow organically, the grower does not use synthetic fertilizers or pesticides. They use compost, growing techniques, and other methods to replentosh nutrients to the soil, including micronutrients. Methods of controling pests may include companion planting, use of non-synthetic means to control weeds and insets (including putting weeds and removing insects from plants manually and then killing them). Non-GMO, heirloon and open-pollinated seeds are used. To be certified as organic by the USDA, the grower has to apply and be granted organic certification, though any grower who uses the above techniques is growing organically.
