Most translations of The Bible say that it was a rooster that crowed, but at least one version (the King James version) says that a cock crowed.
This is interesting, because when most people here either the word cock or rooster, they immediately think of a male chicken, but by the dictionary definition, a cock is either a male chicken, OR the male of any bird, esp. of the gallinaceous type. The definition of rooster is the male of a domestic fowl, AND CERTAIN GAME BIRDS. So, a cock may not have referred to a male chicken at all as most people asume.
Matthew 26:74 (New International Version): Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed.
Matthew 26:74 (King James Version): Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
A rooster (Mat 26:74)
He told Peter and Andrew to follow him.
He told Peter go and feed my sheep, meaning look after the church.
Yes it was John. Because of the words of Jesus were not fully understood when he spoke with Peter. Which is often the case today when the words of Jesus are shared.

Peter was not just a man of words but also a man of action, displaying both initiative and courage, as well as a strong attachment for his Lord Jesus.
In the Bible, the book of Acts Chapter 21 verse 17: The third time he (Jesus) said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you." Jesus said, "Feed my sheep." By these words Jesus both forgave Peter for his three denial of Him and told Peter to "Feed His sheep" or in other word "to take care of the church". Jesus chose Peter to care for His church.
Because he would use Peter as a "strong foundation" to build up the churchNote: Actually this belief is common especially among Catholics, but a careful study of the words Jesus used shows Jesus was referring to himself as the Rock. The name Peter means stone or little rock. The Christian church has Christ as it's foundation, otherwise it wouldn't be a "Christian" church, if Peter was the foundation it would be the "Peterian" church.
The disciple Peter answered Jesus' question with these words, as found in Matthew 16:16 "...You are Christ, the Son of the living God." Peter confessed Jesus as both the promised Messiah and as divine.
In response to Jesus' teaching on the Eucharist, when asked if the twelve would also leave, Peter famously replied, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." This statement reflects Peter's recognition of Jesus' unique authority and the belief that only He offers the true path to salvation. Despite the difficult teaching, Peter and the apostles affirmed their commitment to Jesus, acknowledging that there was no alternative to the life and truth He provided.
Jesus is the one and only good person. hes perfect, gererous, holy, and many other good words to describe him. aleluia
Peter's original name was Simon. Our Lord changed his name to Petrus (Peter) which is Greek for "rock." Peter was the "rock" upon which Our Lord was building his church. In other words, he was the first leader (pope) of the church.
