A rooster (Mat 26:74)
3 words OMG
Most translations of the bible say that it was a rooster that crowed, but at least one version (the King James version) says that a cock crowed. This is interesting, because when most people here either the word cock or rooster, they immediately think of a male chicken, but by the dictionary definition, a cock is either a male chicken, OR the male of any bird, esp. of the gallinaceous type. The definition of rooster is the male of a domestic fowl, AND CERTAIN GAME BIRDS. So, a cock may not have referred to a male chicken at all as most people asume. Matthew 26:74 (New International Version): Then he began to call down curses on himself and he swore to them, "I don't know the man!" Immediately a rooster crowed. Matthew 26:74 (King James Version): Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
